Influence of dissolved gas on the interaction between hydrophobic surfaces in water
Article Abstract:
The Pashley reports that the emulsion stability is strongly affected by the presence of the dissolved gas are discussed. It is found that the presence of dissolved gas, in both oil and water, facilitates the formation of gas bubbles between the surfaces. Furthermore, the lifetime of the gas bubbles adsorbed on the interface is substantially prolonged in the presence of dissolved gas and they can act as nucleation centers for the formation of a gaseous lens between two oil droplets at re-encounters.

Temperature weighted histogram analysis method, replica exchange, and transition paths
Article Abstract:
The data from a replica exchange molecular dynamics simulation using the weighted histogram analysis method to combine data from all of the temperature replicas to obtain the room temperature potential of mean force of the G-peptide is analyzed. The observation provides new insights into a possible mechanism of formation of beta-sheet secondary structures in proteins.

A model for studying drying at hydrophobic interfaces: structural and thermodynamic properties
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to examine the structural and thermodynamic properties of a water droplet enclosed in a spherical cavity embedded in a hydrophobic material. The results indicate that the structure of water near an impenetrable and purely repulsive surface at standard conditions of temperature and pressure is described as a dry, separated state.
