Influence of the hydroxylation of gamma-Al(sub 2)O(sub 3) surfaces on the stability and diffusion of single Pd atom: A DFT study
Article Abstract:
The interactions of single Pd atoms with gamma-Al(sub 2)O(sub 3) surfaces corresponding to realistic pretreatment conditions by means of density functional theory is reported using well-defined models of gamma-Al(sub 2)O(sub 3) surfaces. The results show that the dependence of structure and interaction energies with selected surfaces are depicted and reveal the low-energy diffusion paths of Pd on these surfaces.

Preparation and optical properties of Th[O.sub.2] and Eu-Doped Th[O.sub.2] nanotubes by the sol-gel method combined with porous anodic aluminum oxide template
Article Abstract:
The sol-gel method in porous anodic aluminum oxide template is used to report the synthesis of thorium oxide and Eu-doped thorium oxide nanotubes for the first time. Strong visible light emissions are observed at low doping concentration also showing that the luminescent intensity decreases at high doping concentration.
