Farm equipment dealers may have to be more selective regarding their equipment purchases in 2000, according to GVM Inc VP Denny Stahl. Ag-Chem Equipment Senior Product Mgr Arnie Sinclair opined that dealers must also offer machinery which provide more flexibility or study ways by which larger row crop machines may be used in more pre-emergence applications. Case Tyler Business Unit Product Mgr Steve Willey also predicted that crop protection chemical droplet size will become a key concern in farm management in 2000. Thus, dealers may prosper by offering technology which will allow droplet size to be a key management tool for cutting costs while increasing production.

Article Abstract:
AgriDat, a division of FarmChem Corp, is offering a remote automated storage tank monitoring and management system called RAMnet. The system continuously monitors tank levels at an accuracy of within 1/10 of an inch. The system, which was adopted by Novartis and Monsanto, can also detect and offset changes in humidity and temperature. Other features are high and low level alarms, multiple tank inventory management and local read-out/data-logger monitoring.
