Initial growth of the water layer on (1 x 1)-oxygen-covered Ru(0001) in comparison with that on bare Ru(0001)
Article Abstract:
Temperature-programmed desorption (TPD) and infrared reflection absorption spectroscopy (IRAS) are used to study the initial growth of a water (D2O) layer on (1 x 1)-oxygen-covered Ru(0001) in comparison with that on bare Ru(0001). The TPD and IRAS measurements for the two surfaces exhibit distinct differences even though water molecules absorbed on both bare and (1 x 1)-oxygen-covered Ru(0001) commonly tend to form hydrogen bonds with each other when mobility occurs on heating.

Interface effect on the electronic structure of alkanethiol-coated platinum nanoparticles
Article Abstract:
An investigation of the structure and electronic properties of platinum nanoparticles, which are coated with an octadecanethiol self-assembled monolayer, is given. The variation of properties caused by the different coverage of the coating layer is discussed.
