Investigation of the benzene molecule adsorbed on faujasite zeolite using double quantum filtered NMR spectral analysis
Article Abstract:
A comparative study has been made between faujasites and the loading effect of benzene molecules when placed in a chemical supercage. Findings have indicated that the magnitudes of Tsub w and Tsub i are stongly correlated with the strength of adsoption and the free volume available for reorientiation. The internal rotation of NaY was found to be slower while chemical loading was increased. Benzene displacement from S sub II site was found to be situated near the center of the supercage, after which a closer separation of benzene molecules in NaY supercages is expected to follow.

Ordering of silicate layers by hydrogen-bonding networks: solid state NMR investigation of the perfect three-dimensional registration in the layer silicate RUB-18
Article Abstract:
The hydrogen bonding network responsible for the 3D ordering of the silicate layers in RUB-18 was investigated using solid state 1H and 29Si NMR spectroscopies. Results showed that the proton magic angle spinning (MAS) spectra exhibit two well-defined resonances of the hydrate water and the layer hydroxyls in Si-OHLO-Si units. Moreover, 2D 1H/29Si cross polarization MAS spectra also indicate that the lattice hydroxyls are the dominant polarization source. Analysis of the exchange process between the two proton types revealed that not all hydrogen are necessary in the exchange.
