Pioneer Hi-Bred International Inc's acquisition by E.I. du Pont de Nemours and Co (DuPont) in late 1999 is aimed at creating an organization that will lead US agriculture into the new millennium. The long-term success of the combined companies, which have unparalleled longevity as well as resources in their respective fields, will depend on how fast the two organizations can make use of synergies to present customers with value- added crop products.
