Macroscopic diffusion and low-frequency vibrations of sodium on Pt(111) investigated with helium atom scattering
Article Abstract:
Quasielastic helium atom scattering (QHAS) techniques are used to study the diffusion and lateral vibrations of a low coverage Theta(sub Na)=0.043 of sodium atoms on a Pt(111) surface. On account of the competition between on-top and hollow site adsorption on the hexagonal Pt(111) surface, this system provides a comparison with the diffusion of Na/Cu(001).

Electron attachment to ethyl adsorbed on platinum
Article Abstract:
Ab initio electron structure calculations are performed on ethyl adsorbed on Pt(100) to investigate whether photoexcitation and the resulting electron attachment to ethyl would induce dissociation by H transfer to the surface. Using an embedded cluster description of the adsorbate-metal system, calculations are carried.
