Mechanical and hydrothermal stabilities of aged periodic mesoporous organosilicas
Article Abstract:
The effects of aging, mechanical and hydrothermal treatments on the microstructures of periodic mesoporous organosilicas (PMOs) are presented using nitrogen gas sorption, thermogravimetry, and X-ray diffraction (XRD). Results of XRD, nitrogen sorption, and thermogravimetric studies support the concept of mechanochemical silicate hydrolysis as the driving force behind microstructural collapse in these nanoporous materials.

A spin probe study of mesoporous silica formation via a neutral templating route
Article Abstract:
The structure of dodecylamine aggregates acting as templates in the synthesis of mesoporous silica are studied via the EPR spectra of a variety of spin probes and of a spin-labeled silica precursor. The surfactant-silica interaction is critically dependent on solvent and data shows that silica network cross-linking becomes important only above 90 degree Celsius.
