Mechanism of heterogeneous oxidation of carbonyl sulfide on Al(sub 2)O(sub 3): An in situ diffuse reflectance infrared Fourier transform spectroscopy investigation
Article Abstract:
Heterogeneous oxidation of carbonyl sulfide (OCS) on the surface of different types of alumina (Al(sub 2)O(sub 3)) was investigated in a closed system and a flowed system using in situ infrared Fourier transform spectroscopy (DRIFTS). The results showed that OCS can be catalytically oxidized on Al(sub 2)O(sub 3) surface to produce gas-phase Co(sub 2) and surface SO(sub 4)(super 2-) species at 298K.

Density functional theory (DFT) and DRIFTS investigations of the formation and adsorption of enolic species on the Ag/Al2O3 surface
Article Abstract:
Molecular structure and vibrational frequencies of the novel surface enolic species intermediate on Ag/Al2O3 is investigated by means of density functional theory calculations and in situ infrared spectroscopy. The geometrical structures and vibrational frequencies were obtained at the B3P86 levels of DFT and compared with the corresponding experimental values.

Novel enolic surface species formed during partial oxidation of CH3CHO, C2H5OH, and C3H6 on Ag/Al2O3: An in situ DRIFTS study
Article Abstract:
In situ DRIFTS is applied to study the formation and reactivity of surface species on Ag/Al2O3 during partial oxidation of CH3CHO, C2H5OH, and C3H6. The adsorbed enolic species is found to be more prone to react with NO + O2 on Ag/Al2O3 than acetate.
