Mechanism of the effect of NiCo, Ni and Co catalysts on the yield of single-wall carbon nanotubes formed by pulsed Nd:YAG laser ablation
Article Abstract:
Research was conducted to examine the mechanism of the effect of NiCo, Ni and Co catalysts on the yield of single-wall carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) formed by pulsed Nd:YAG laser ablation. In the model of the SWNT formation using a C(sub x)Ni(sub y)Co(sub y) target, graphite absorbs the laser-beam, heats up to 3000-4000 K and transforms into molten C. The formation model also explains how the SWNT growth is influenced by the ambient temperature.

Diameter enlargement of single-wall carbon nanotubes by oxidation
Article Abstract:
The experimental results of the coalescence of SWNTs that occurred at lower temperature assisted by oxidation are studied. The nitric acid treatment of HiPco SWNTs has revealed two important facts related to controlling the diameter of SWNTs.
