Nature, structure and strength of the acidic sites of amorphous silica alumina: An IR and NMR study
Article Abstract:
IR spectroscopy and high-resolution solid-state NMR allows a deep insight into the structure of amorphous silica alumina (ASA) prepared either through cogelification or by impregnation of alumina with a silica gel. In the ASA prepared by impregnation of alumina by silica gel, the environment of aluminum atoms remains very close to that of pure alumina, while in contrast, the composition is more homogeneous on the ASA prepared by cogelification exhibiting the strongest Bronsted acidity.

Spectroscopic measurement of diffusion kinetics through subnanometer and larger Al2O3 particles by a new method: The interaction of 2-chloroethylethyl sulfide with gamma-Al2O3
Article Abstract:
The diffusion of the 2-chloroethylethyl sulfide (2-CEES) molecule into two types of gamma-Al2O3 powders is studied by using transmission infrared (IR) spectroscopy, probing the kinetic behavior of isolated Al-OH sites as hydrogen bonding occurs at these trap sites. The results have shown that the diffusion of the 2-CEES molecule into the subnanometer crystallite size Al2O3 powder is more rapid than in the multinanometer crystallite size Al2O3.

Infrared spectroscopic study on the surface properties of gamma-gallium oxide as compared to those of gamma-alumina
Article Abstract:
The study shows that by hydrolysis of an ethanolic gallium nitrate solution, gamma-Ga2O3 was prepared as a single- phase polymorph having a specific surface area of 160 m(super 2) g(super -1). The results reveal the basic character of surface O(super 2-) ions and these acetamide species were found to be more abundant on gamma-Ga2O3 than on AI2O3.
