Networks of quantum nanodots: the role of disorder in modifying electronic and optical properties
Article Abstract:
Disorder has been found to induce qualitative changes in the electronic spectrum and in the response of assemblies of quantum dots. The dots themselves are the source of disorder of the lattices of quantum dots as they do not have identitical properties even though their distribution properties can be narrowed down. This is unlike a lattice of atoms or molecules. Lattices of quantum dots also have a configurational disorder and may also be prepared with compositional disorder.

Nanowiring by molecules
Article Abstract:
The study compares conductivities of different conjugated and nonconjugated organic linked on both sides to small gold clusters with electrochemical results. The computation of the current uses a scattering approach and is based on an ab initio determination of the geometry and molecular levels of the gold-spacer-gold system at the Density Functional Theory level.

Intermolecular and intramolecular logic gates
Article Abstract:
The individual molecules are instructed to implement nontrivial tasks, rather than trying to make molecules that can act as wires, switches, and other building blocks of conventional electronic circuits. This is the point that one molecule can communicate its logic output as input to another molecule.
