Neutron reflection
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to characterize the location of the p-tosylate ion in monolayers of the hexadecyltrimethylammonium cation at the air-water interface using neutron reflection. The layer structure was determined by isotopic substitution while a Kruss K10T digital tensiometer was utilized to carry out surface tension measurements. Results indicated that tosylateion supports an ion and cosurfactant role based on the structural parameters of the layer and the surface tension of the solutions.

Neutron scattering study of vermiculite-PEO mixtures
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to analyze a four component clay-polymer-salt-water system by neutron scattering. The system characterized by n-butylammonium vermiculitte, poly(ethylene oxide), n-butylammonium chloride and heavy water. The time-of-flight small-angle scattering instrument LOQ was utilized to perform neutron diffraction studies. Results indicated that the addition of polymer had no impact on the phase transition temperature between the tactoid and gel phases of the system.

Uniaxial stress and sol concentration dependence of the structure of a dressed macroion in a dilute electrolyte solution
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to analyze vermiculite clay gels in a butylammonium chloride solution by neutron diffraction. The vermiculite samples were washed and treated for about a year 1ith 1 M NaCl solution at 50 degrees C. Experimental results indicated that the invariance of the dressed macroin structure correlated with variable changes. Findings also showed that the interlayer structure of the aqueous solution was independent of the salt concentration.
