Optically detected magnetic resonance study of electron/hole traps in CdSe quantum dot surfaces
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to analyze electron/hole traps on CdSe quantum dot surfaces using magnetic resonance measurements. The deposition solution was determined by mixing a cadmium nitrilocate solution and a sodium selenosulfate solution. The Uvikon 810 UV-vis spectrophotometer was utilized to determine the optical transmittance spectra of the CdSe films. Results indicated that the trapping sites supported low symmetry and existed at the surface of the nanoparticles.

Surface properties of precipitated CdS nanoparticles studied by NMR
Article Abstract:
Nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy is used in studying the surface and bulk properties of CdS nanocrystals. NMR spectroscopy is a nondestructive method of gaining information about the electronic structure and environment of atoms in solids. Surface atoms are readily observable through NMR spectroscopy which is impossible with normal polycrystalline materials. Results indicate that some surface Cd atoms are bound to hydroxyl groups while others are oxygenated in Cd-rich nanoparticles. Cadmium atoms are coordinated and only one NMR line is seen in S-rich nanoparticles.
