Optimization of the Ni-Y catalyst composition in bulk electric arc synthesis of single-walled carbon nanotubes by use of near-infrared spectroscopy
Article Abstract:
The influence of Ni-Y catalyst composition on the bulk scale synthesis of a single-walled nanotubes (SWNTs) is studied using solution phase near-infrared spectroscopy. A range of catalyst compositions is invariant to the scale of the EA synthetic procedure, and this suggests that it will be possible to significantly reduce the cost of production and to further improve the quality of bulk quantities of SWNTs that are suitable for large-scale applications.

Ultrasonic dispersions of single-walled carbon nanotubes
Article Abstract:
The nature of single-walled carbon nanotube (SWNT) -solvent interaction, which is responsible for the stabilization of ultrasonicated dispersions, is investigated by various techniques. The degradation of SWNTs was observed under conditions that might be expected to remove covalent functionalities, and the chemical interaction of the sonopolymer with the SWNTs was found to be irreversible.

Chemically functionalized single-walled carbon nanotubes as ammonia sensors
Article Abstract:
A novel approach toward development of advanced chemical sensors based on chemically functionalized single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) is demonstrated. P2-SWNTs exposed to 100 ppm NH3 exhibit a behavior, which is typical of pristine SWNTs.
