Orientation aggregation and novel phase transformation of vaterite controlled by the synergistic effect of calcium dodecyl sulfate and n-pentanol
Article Abstract:
An experiment was conducted to determine the synergistic effect of Calcium dodecyl sulfate (CDS) and n-pentanol on the crystallization habit of CaCO3 and the oriented aggregation of vaterite. It was learnt that the synergistic effect of CDS and n-pentanol had a significant impact in the polymorphic selectivity of the metastable vaterite and also in the novel phase transformation of vaterite to argonite at room temperature and in the absence of magnesium ions.

Phase diagram and high-pressure boundary of hydrate formation in the ethane-water system
Article Abstract:
Dissociation temperatures of gas hydrate formed in the ethane-water system are studied at pressures up to 1500 MPa. In situ neutron diffraction analysis and X-ray diffraction analysis in a diamond anvil cell showed that the gas hydrate formed in the ethane-water system at 340, 700, and 1840 MPa and room temperature belongs to the cubic structure I (CS-I).
