Packaging of a flexible polyelectrolyte inside a viral capsid: Effect of salt concentration and salt valence

Article Abstract:

A coarse-grained model, which is solved by Monte Carlo simulations, is used for examining the effect of salt on the location and structure of a flexible polyelectrolyte confined inside a viral capsid and the Donnan equilibrium of the salt across the capsid. It is shown that an excess of polyelectrolyte counterions occurred inside the capsid and the excess increased with the salt concentration.

A molecular dynamics study of a Nafion polyelectrolyte membrane and the aqueous phase structure for proton transport

Article Abstract:

A molecular dynamics simulation study of hydrated Nafion at water contents is performed to examine the structure and dynamics of the hydrated polyelectrolyte system. The results have shown that both the local structure of the poorly hydrated hydronium ions and the disconnected nature of the global morphology of the water nanonetwork at low water content have contributed to poor conductivity.

Deformation properties of nonadhesive polyelectrolyte microcapsules studied with the atomic force microscope

Article Abstract:

The deformation of nonadhesive polyelectrolyte microcapsules under applied load is studied. The formation of electrostatically stabilized 3D net structure inside capsules is also presented.
