Issues concerning the investigation of the behavior of polymer and surfactant mixtures as peptizing agents for solvent-mediated phase transformations of amorphous colloidal particles and for controlling Ostwald ripening are discussed.

The partitioning of solutes and cosolvents between a cross-linked polymer phase and a high-pressure fluid phase was investigated by the use of an in situ UV-visible and FTIR spectroscopy.
