Precipitation of nanostructured copper oxalate: Substructure and growth mechanism
Article Abstract:
The growth mechanisms and kinetics of precipitation of copper oxalate were investigated by using in-situ particle size measurement or by stopping the reaction at various stages and using ex-situ methods. The growth process was followed from 2 min to 2 weeks and the results in the 2--30 min period lead to the proposal of a core-shell growth model with a poorly ordered core and a well-structured shell of nanosized crystallites. For over 2 weeks a ripening is seen which produces lens-shaped particles that eliminate the high surface energy faces observed in the earlier stages of growth.

Multifrequency EPR studies on the Mn(II) centers of oxalate decarboxylase
Article Abstract:
A multifrequency cw-EPR approach is used to study the oxalate decarboxylase (OxDC) in order to distinguish the two Mn(II) sites and determine their respective magnetic parameters. It is shown that the two Mn ions can be distinguished on the basis of their differing fine structure parameters and that acetate and formate bind to Mn(II) is only one of the two sites.

Unusual spin transition behavior in 2,6-Bis((pyrazol-3-yl)-pyridine) iron(II)-bis-oxalato-platinate(II)
Article Abstract:
The synthesis and two-step spin crossover behavior of Fe[(bpp).sub.2]][Pt[(ox).sub.2]].[H.sub.2]O where bpp is 2,6-bis(pyrazol-3-yl)-pyridine and ox is oxalate, is described. The complex and unique transitional behavioral changes over many cycles are discussed.
