Pressure-induced phase transformations in LiAlH4
Article Abstract:
The pressure induced phase transformations in pure LiAlH4 were studied using in situ Raman spectroscopy. The analyses of the spectra reveal a phase transition at approximately 3 GPa from the ambient pressure monoclinic [alpha]-LiAlH4 phase to a high pressure phase [beta]-LiAlH4 having a distorted [[AlH4].sup.-] tetrahedron and the Al-H stretching mode in the quenched state further shifts to lower frequencies, suggesting a weakening of the Al-H bond.

Comment on "effect of chromium substitution on the lattice vibration of spinel lithium manganate: A new interpretation of the Raman spectrum of LiMn2O4"
Article Abstract:
The effects of the chromium substitution in spinel lithium manganate (LiMn(sub2-x)Cr(sub x)O(sub 4) 0 (less than or equal to) x (less than or equal to) 0.5 is examined by means of the X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) and micro-Raman spectroscopy. The results showed that the true Raman spectrum of LiMn2O4 consists of a broad peak at around 580 cm(super -1), with poorly defined features between 300 and 450 cm(super -1).
