RNA selectively interacts with vesicles depending on their size
Article Abstract:
The interaction between tRNA (Esherichia coli) and vesicles made of the zwitterionic surfactant POPC (1-palmitoyl-2-oleoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine), partially positively charged with small molar fractions of the single-chained CTAB (cetyltrimethylammonium bromide) is reported. CTAB is capable to insert effectively in POPC vesicles, and the binding of tRNA to such charged vesicles operates a strong selection being critically dependent upon the vesicle size.

Balance of pH and ionic strength influences on chain melting transition in catanionic vesicles
Article Abstract:
The thermotropic phase transition of salt-free mixtures of single-tailed cationic and anionic surfactants, called catanionic systems, for concentrated (10 wt per cent) and diluted (0.5 wt per cent) samples is discussed. The coexistence of molten and crystallized bilayers explains the increase of the viscosity of the solution, via structural reorganization of the bilayers or friction between the partially fused vesicles.

Surface immobilization and mechanical properties of catanionic hollow faceted polyhedrons
Article Abstract:
A study on surface immobilization of hollow faceted polyhedrons formed catanionic surfactant mixtures finding the electrostatic interaction with the substrate dominates their adhesion behavior was conducted. The results indicated that the elastic response of individual polyhedrons was resolved locally, showing pronounced differences in stiffness between faces and vertexes of the structure.
