Raman and IR spectroscopy of silver iodide/silver selenate fast ion-cinducting glasses
Article Abstract:
A study of the high temperature phase of silver iodide alpha-AgI reports on the first Raman and IR spectra of x(AgI)2.(1-x)Ag2SeO4 which forms ionic glasses containing discrete Ag+, I- and SeO42- ions at room temperatures up to 573 K, covering the glassy, partially crystallized and liquid states. The Raman and IR spectra of x(AgI)2.(1-x)Ag2SeO4 can be considered as a composite of a spectral part at low frequencies related to AgI and a part at high frequency that resembles a broadened spectrum of c-Ag2SeO4.

Formation of entrapment of noble metal clusters in silica aerogel monoliths by gamma-radiolysis
Article Abstract:
An experiment was done where noble metal clusters (Ag, Au) were formed in a silica aerogel matrix by gamma-irradiation of hydrogel precursors loaded with aqueous solutions containing Ag(super +) or [AuCl4](super-). Using various techniques, results obtained showed that clusters have a crystalline fcc structure.
