Relative yields of endohedral lanthanide metallofullerenes by arc synthesis and their correlation with the elution behavior
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to analyze the synthesis of endohedral lanthanide metallofullerenes using the arc-discharge technique. The elution behavior of the metallofullerenes was examined by mass spectrometry and high performance liquid chromatography. Experimental results indicated that relative yield correlated with the relative retention time. Findings also showed that the extent of the charge transfer was directly proportional with the formation of metal-carbon clusters at high temperatures.

Third-order nonlinear optical response of fullerenes as a function of the carbon cage size (C60 to C96) at 0.532 micrometer
Article Abstract:
A comparative degenerate four-wave-mixing measurements (DFWM) of the fullerene series C60 to C100 were described. The fullerene samples were analyzed in CS2 solutions. The concentration dependence and laser power dependence of the nonlinear responses of the fullerene samples were also analyzed. A large third-order nonlinear optical response at 0.532 micrometer was recorded. The findings indicate that higher fullerenes exhibited larger hyperpolarizabilities which can be explained by resonance-enhanced third-order optical nonlinearity.
