Second harmonic generation-based coherent vibrational spectroscopy for a liquid interface under the nonresonant pump condition
Article Abstract:
The second harmonic generation-based coherent vibrational spectroscopy (SHG-CVS) as a method is developed to investigate the low-frequency dynamics at interfacial areas. It was demonstrated that the S/N ratio of the SHG-CVS with the TG configuration was remarkably superior to that with the conventional time-resolved SHG configuration, and the improved detection limit enabled to detect the low-frequency dynamics of coumarin 314 molecules at the air/water interface under the electronically nonresonant pump condition.

Density formation of liquid/liquid interfacial regions using a quasi-elastic laser scattering method
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to characterize the density estimation of liquid/liquid interfacial regions using a quasi-elastic laser scattering framework. An incident laser beam normal to the interface was scattered quasi-elastically using a Doppler shift by the capillary waves. Experimental results indicated that alcohol/water interfacial regions support smaller densities than bulk phases. Findings also showed that hydrophobic groups in alcohol and carboxylic acid molecules accommodate porosity in interfacial regions.

Solvation of p-coumaric acid in water
Article Abstract:
Molecular dynamics based density functional theory (DFT) is used for studying the chromophore, p-coumaric acid (pCA), in different isomerization and protonation states in bulk solution. The presence of the chromophore has influenced the charge and polarization of the water molecules around it.
