Second hyperpolarizability of ethynyl-linked azobenzene molecular wires

Article Abstract:

A series of oligomers consisting of ethynyl-linked azobenzene units was prepared using Pd-catalyzed cross coupling and the linear and nonlinear optical properties of the oligomers were investigated. The results suggested that the incorporation of azobenzene functional groups and alkynyl linkages into organic optical materials resulted in dramatically improved performance in nonlinear optical applications.

Ultrafast degenerate four wave mixing studies of third-order nonlinearities in conjugated organic polymers containing azo groups and alkynyl linkages in the polymer backbone

Article Abstract:

The degenerate four wave mixing (DFWM) with 780 nm femtosecond pulses was used to investigate electronic third-order nonlinearities for azo monomers and conjugated polymers. Both the compounds had ultrafast nonlinearities with response time as 100 fs.

Isomerization dynamics of photochromic spiropyran molecular switches in phospholipid bilayers

Article Abstract:

The isomerization reactions of photochromic spiropyran/merocyanine compounds were studied in organic solvents and in phosphatidylcholine bilayers. The results revealed that isomerization reactions occur in the gel and liquid bilayer phases.
