Seed-mediated growth technique for the preparation of a silver nanoshell on a silica sphere
Article Abstract:
Seed-mediated particle growth method for fabricating core-shell particles, where metal silver nanoparticles tethered on a silica sphere served as nucleation sites for the growth of a silver nanoshell overlayer is presented. The optical properties of core-shell could be tuned by changing the thickness of the silver nanoshell and the results reveal that relatively low temperature favored more the formation of a smooth and compact silver nanoshell.

Enhanced fluorescence from fluorophores on fractal silver surfaces
Article Abstract:
Fractal silver structures are formed on, or near, silver electrodes by passage of electric currents, and are tested to expand the usefulness of metal-enhanced fluorescence. The new findings and methods would contribute to the use of metal-enhanced fluorescence in medical diagnostics and biotechnology.
