Self-assembly of extended polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons on Cu(111)
Article Abstract:
The self-assembly of extended polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons with different symmetries on the Cu(111) surfaces is studied by low-temperature scanning tunneling microscopy. All molecules show a commensurate monolayer structure, with significant structural differences with respect to the unit cell of the molecular lattice and the orientational ordering and these are dominated by molecule-substrate interactions, while molecule-molecule interactions determine the molecular packing density through steric repulsion.

Origin of simultaneous donor-acceptor emulsion in single molecules of perylencimide-terrylenediimide labeled polyphenylene dendrimers
Article Abstract:
Several single molecule photon flux correlation measurements are used to examine and analyze the Forster type resonance energy transfer (FRET) in several donor-acceptor perylenemide-terrylenediimide labeled polyphenylen dendrimers at the single molecule level. The results prove that the individual molecules show simultaneous emissions from donor as well as acceptor chromophores, which also leads to a very special phenomenon of two-color defocused wide-field imaging.

Mixed micelle formation and solubilization behavior toward polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons of binary and ternary cationic-nonionic surfactant mixtures
Article Abstract:
The influence of hydrophobic chain length and hydrophilic groups as well as the measurement and comparison of water solubility enhancement of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) by micellar solutions at 25 degree centigrade utilizing dual range of surfactants are presented. Mixed surfactants have improved the performance of surfactant-enhanced remediation of soils and sediments by decreasing the applied surfactant level and thus remediation cost.
