Spectroscopic and semiempirical studies of a proton channel formed by the methyl ester of monensin A
Article Abstract:
Methyl ester (MONI) and hydrates of monensin A are studied in acetonitrile, and its deuterated analogue by Fourier transform infrared and [sup. 1.H] and [sup. 13.C] NMR spectroscopies as well as by vapor pressure osmotic and PM5 semiempirical methods. The formation of the hydrates starts with a transfer of a proton from the OIV-H hydroxyl group of MONI to an oxygen atom of a water molecule, which is subsequently hydrated by other water molecules forming the (MONI + 3H2O) species.

Synthesis and structure characterization of chromium oxide prepared by solid thermal decomposition reaction
Article Abstract:
The synthesis of controlled mesoporous chromium oxide (Cr2O3) nanocrystals by the thermal decomposition reaction of chromium salt, which is an inexpensive process to obtain mesoporous nanocrystals is reported. As-prepared particles are formed through the aggregation of the primary 3-4 nm nanocrystals and possess mesoporous structures.
