Spectroscopic study of substrate binding to the carbonmonoxy form of dehaloperoxidase from Amphitrite ornata
Article Abstract:
The dynamics of substrate binding in dehaloperoxidase (DHP) from Amphitrite ornata is characterized by using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and flash photolysis. Many discrete conformations at the active site are identified from the appearance of multiple CO absorbance bands in the infrared region of the spectrum and the low yield of substrate-bound DHP at ambient temperature has pointed toward a steric inhibition of substrate binding by carbon monoxide.

Characterization of carbon monoxide photodissociation from [Fe.sup.II]LPO with photoacoustic calorimetry
Article Abstract:
Photoacoustic calorimetry is used to characterize thermodynamic parameters associated with ligand dissociation from bovine milk lactoperoxidase (LPO). The thermodynamic parameters are differing from those determined for CO dissociation from horseradish peroxidase, suggesting that the mechanism of ligand access to heme binding proteins is different in plant and animal peroxidases.

Growth energetics of single-wall carbon nanotubes with carbon monoxide
Article Abstract:
Investigation of the microscopic growth energetics of single-wall carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) with gas-phase CO molecules is done. The carbon atom in CO forms a bond with the carbon of nucleated SWNT tube edge when the CO molecule adsorbs on an edge of a nanotube.
