Stabilization of gold nanoparticles by 6-mercaptopurine monolayers. Effects of the solvent properties
Article Abstract:
Gold nanoparticles coated with 6-mercaptopurine (6MP-AuNPs) are prepared by modification of the nanoparticle surface with 6MP upon displacement of the protective layer of citrate anions. The 6MP-AuNPs are stable in a wide range of experimental conditions in an aqueous medium and in an acidic medium, the 6MP-AuNPs flocculate, but this process is reversible as a stable suspension is obtained when the pH of the medium is changed.

Laser-induced conversion of noble metal island films to dense monolayers of spherical nanoparticles
Article Abstract:
The effect of nanosecond laser irradiation (at 532nm) to Ag- and Au- island films sputter- deposited on a mica substrate is illuminated. It was observed that Ag- and Au- island films sputter- deposited on mica could be converted to a dense monolayer or 2D array of spherical nanoparticles without aggregation by postdeposition nanosecond laser irradiation at 532nm in a relatively narrow range of laser fluence.

Effect of the metal on electron transfer across self-assembled monolayers
Article Abstract:
Kinetic measurements are performed, of one of self-assembled monolayers (SAM), {HS(CH sub 2) (sub 15) COOH with attached {Ru(super 11)(NH sub 3)(sub 5)(4-animomethylpyridine)]} on 3 metals, gold, platinum and silver polycrystalline electrodes. The agreement with theory supports the prediction that "d" band states of the metal couple weakly to the remote redox centers on the SAM.
