Structural implications of anomalous thermal expansion and glass-like dielectric response in pyridinium halogenoaurates
Article Abstract:
The crystals of [C5NH6](super +)[AuCl4](super -), [C5NH6](super +)[AuBr4](super -), and [C5NH6](super +)[AuI4](super -) are studied using single-crystal X-ray diffraction and dielectric spectroscopy and the anomalous thermal expansion and dielectric response in pyridinium halogenoaurates are examined. The analysis has provided an evidence of the dipolar glass phase formation in the PyAuBr4 and PyAuCl4 crystals, where Py = C5NH6.

Solvent polarities and Kamlet-Taft parameters for ionic liquids containing a pyridinium cation
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to obtain polarity and Kamlet-Taft parameters for five pyridinium ionic liquids as a function of temperature by substituting methyl group on the pyridinium cation. Substituting a methyl group in the C(2) position on the cation leads to reduced polarity, reduced ratio of dipolarity/polarizability, reduced hydrogen-bond-donating acidity, and to an increase in hydrogen-bond-accepting basicity.

Aggregation properties of novel cationic surfactants with multiple pyridinium headgroups, small-angle neutron scattering and conductivity studies
Article Abstract:
The aggregation properties of single-chain cationic surfactants bearing one, two and three pyridinium headgroups are studied by using detailed small-angle neutron scattering (SANS). The critical micellar concentration (cmc) of these surfactants is estimated by measuring the specific conductance of the aqueous solution of the surfactants.
