Structural investigation of Langmuir and Langmuir-Blodgett monolayers of semifluorinated alkanes

Article Abstract:

The behavior of a semi-fluorinated allkane is studied at the air-water interface by using surface pressure and surface potential-area isotherms as well as infrared spectroscopy for the Langmuir-Blodgett films. The results imply that the phase transition observed in the course of surface pressure/area isotherm is due to a conformational change originating from the double helix to a vertical, single helix configuration.

Conformational changes of a calix[8]arene derivative at the air-water interface

Article Abstract:

The particular behavior of a p-tert-butyl calix[8]arene derivative is studied at the air-water interface using surface pressure-area isotherms, surface potential-area isotherms and film relaxation measurements. It was observed that the various properties of the film recorded during the first compression cycle differ from those during the second compression and following cycles.
