Structure and electrocatalytic activity of carbon-supported Pt-Ni alloy nanoparticles toward the oxygen reduction reaction
Article Abstract:
Vulcan XC-72 carbon-supported Pt-Ni alloy nanoparticle catalysts with different Pt/Ni atomic composition are prepared via the carbonyl complex route and their structure are studied by X-ray diffraction spectroscopy at wide angles (WAXS) and Debye function analysis (DFA). The enhanced electrocatalytic activity of as-prepared Pt-Ni alloy catalysts for the ORR is attributed to the high dispersion of the alloy catalysts, to their disordered structure, and to the favorable Pt-Pt mean interatomic distance caused by alloying.

Electrochemical mass spectroscopic and surface photovoltage studies of catalytic water photooxidation by undoped and carbon-doped titania
Article Abstract:
Carbon-doped TiO2 is prepared with different doping concentrations and it is investigated that via differential electrochemical mass spectroscopy (DEMS) and capacitive surface photovoltage (SPV) measurements in the form of thin layer electrodes. No detectable oxygen evolved from the doped electrodes and since an oxidation of formic acid is still apparent, it is concluded that this oxidation occurs via isolated, catalytically poorly active trap states within the forbidden energy region.
