Doping of conducting polymers by sulfonated fullerene derivatives and dendrimers
Article Abstract:
The doping of polyaniline emeraldine base films by sulfonated fullerene and dendrimers with multiple -(O)SO3H groups is investigated. The doping of sulfonated dendrimers yields conductivities of up to ca. 10 S/cm. Materials doped with hydrogenated fullerenol exhibited metallic characteristics with room temperature conductivities of up to 100 S/cm, which is about six order of magnitude higher than the that for conducting polymers doped with fullerene.

Patterned growth and contact transfer of well-aligned carbon nanotube films
Article Abstract:
Large arrays of vertically aligned carbon nanotubes were synthesized on various substrates including quartz glass plates, from which substrate-free films were prepared simply by immersing the nanotube-deposited quartz plates into an aqueous hydrofluoric acid solution. Pyrolysis of iron(II) phthalocyanate was utilized under Ar/H2 at 800-1000 degrees C. Micropatterns of the aligned nanotubes that can be used for device fabrication were produced either by patterned growth of the nanotubes on a partially masked/prepatterned surface or by a contact printing procedure involving region-specific transfer of the substrate-free nanotube films to other substrates.
