Surface recording of stretched polyurethane block copolymer films studied by sum frequency generation vibrational spectroscopy
Article Abstract:
Two relatively short block copolymer compositions were used for a molecular level study of the polyurethane (PUR) surface during elongation. The findings state that under fixed elongation, the symmetric to antisymmetric stretch intensity ratio of methylene decreases and the ether methylene symmetric stretch intensities decrease below their original value, indicating a permanent change in the surface composition.

From controllable attached isolation moieties to possibly highly efficient nonlinear optical main-chain polyurethanes containing indole-based chromophores
Article Abstract:
The syntheses, characterization and nonlinear optical (NLO) properties of the main-chain polyurethanes NLO polymers are described. The NLO properties of the polymers have shown that there is a suitable isolation group present for the sulfonyl-based chromophore to enhance its microscopic [beta] value to a higher macroscopic NLO property efficiently.

A study of the viscoelastic behavior of novel side chain liquid crystalline polyurethanes using dynamic infrared spectroscopy
Article Abstract:
Phase modulated dynamic Fourier transform infared spectroscopy (FT-IR) experiments are performed to study the response of the materials to sinusoidal mechanism perturbations. The cyano band is used to follow mesogen movements and the urethane carbonyl is used to track the hard segment for the polyurethane under study.
