Surfactant self-assembly in the gas phase: bis(2-ethylhexyl)sulfosuccinate-alkaline metal ion aggregates
Article Abstract:
The electrospray ionization mass spectrometry was used to study the coating effect of alkali metal salt clusters by the surfactant anion bis(2-ethylhexyl)sulfosuccinate. The results provide insight into the significant role of electrostatic interactions and of the charge screening by the surfactant alkyl chains in the stabilization of cluster-containing reverse micelle-like aggregates both from decomposition as well as from an unlimited growth.

2-Aminopurine excited state electronic structure measured by Stark spectroscopy
Article Abstract:
Stark spectroscopy is used for studying the excited state properties of 2-aminopurine (2AP) and 2-amino,9-methylpurine (2A9MP) in frozen solutions. The results are combined with state-of-the-art ab initio electronic structure calculations are used for elucidating the directions and magnitudes of dipole moments in the molecular frame.
