Isolation and characterization of C60F38. Loss of aromaticity on F2 addition to C60F36
Article Abstract:
Two isomers of C60F38 were isolated from the product of fluorination of [60]fullerene with a mixture of MnF3 and K2NiF6 at 485 degree Celsius. The amount of less rapidly eluting isomer was sufficient for (super 19)F NMR characterization, which gave a 38 line spectrum showing the isomer to have C1 symmetry.

Melting and glass transition for Ni clusters
Article Abstract:
The melting of [Ni.sub.N] clusters, where N = 29, 50-150 is investigated by using molecular dynamics (MD) simulations with a quantum corrected Sutton-Chen (Q-SC) many-body potential. The results have shown that latent heat of fusion is the dominant effect on the melting temperatures ([T.sub.m]).
