Synthesis of ordered mixed titania and silica mesostructured monoliths for gold catalysts
Article Abstract:
The mesostructured silica-titania mixed oxide monoliths is synthesized, in which the nanocrystalline titania is well dispersed inside the silicate framework by a liquid crystalline templating approach in combination with sol-gel processing. Results suggest that templating of polymer gels with mixed sol-gel precursor solution leads to the generation of monolithic mixed metal oxide networks, with highly uniform pore systems.

Gold nanorods to nanochains: Mechanistic investigations on their longitudinal assembly using alpha,omega-alkanedithiols and interplasmon coupling
Article Abstract:
Mechanistic investigations on the end-to-end assembly of Au nanorods to nanochains in the presence of alpha,omega-alkanedithiols is presented. The observation resulted in a decrease in the longitudinal plasmon absorption along with a concomitant formation of a new red-shifted band above a critical concentration of dithiol which is attributed to the interplasmon coupling in assembled nanorods.
