Synthesis structure, and physical properties of hybrid nanocomposites for solid-state dye lasers
Article Abstract:
A systematic study to relate the laser action from dyes doped into monolithic hybrid matrixes with the structural morphological, optical and a thermal property of the host materials was conducted. The thermal properties of these materials, together with the high homogeneity revealed by atomic force microscopy (AFM) images, even in compounds with high silica content indicate their microstructures to be a continuous phase, corresponding to the polymer matrix, which traps the silica component at molecular level.

Binding of intercalating and groove-binding cyanine dyes to bacteriophage T5
Article Abstract:
The interaction between four related cyanine dyes and bacteriophage T5 is examined using fluorescence and absorption spectroscopy. Findings from a combination of electron microscopy, light scattering, and linear dichroism reveal that the phages are intact after YO-PRO binding but a small degree of capsid rupture cannot be excluded with BOXTRO-PRO.

Article Abstract:
Enhancement of adsorbed dye monolayer fluorescence by a silver nanoparticle overlayer is studied. Deposition of silver nanoparticles directly onto a Rhodamine Red monolayer covalently bound to glass is found to increase the photoluminescence depending on excitation wavelength and nanoparticle density.
