Temperature-dependent tail-tail dynamics of pyrene-labeled poly (dimethylsiloxane) oligomers dissolved in ethyl acetate

Article Abstract:

Steady-state and time-resolved fluorescence spectroscopy was used for examining the tail-tail dynamics and energetics of linear poly (dimethylsiloxane) (PDMS) polymers (Mn = 3100; Mw/Mn = 1.07) labeled with pyrene (Py-PDMS-Py) in ethyl acetate between 255 and 323 K. Similar activation energy was found for both Py-PDMS-Py tail-tail cyclization and for diffusion in ethyl acetate.

Effects of added CO2 on the dynamics of poly(dimethylsiloxane) oligomers dissolved in a solvent and a poor solvent

Article Abstract:

The tail-tail cyclization and unfolding kinetics of a poly(dimethylsiloxane) oligomer that is end-labeled with pyrene (Py-PDMA-Py) when it is dissolved at low concentration in liquid ethyl acetate or methanol at 308 K as a function of added CO2. It was found that in all liquids, the tail-tail cyclization rate increases as the CO2 mole fractions increases.
