Thermodynamic and structural effects of a single backbone hydrogen bond deletion in a metal-assembled helical bundle protein
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to analyze the thermodynamic and dynamic structural consequences of the deletion of a single backbone hydrogen bond from an alpha-helical architecture. Transition metal ion-assembled three-helix bundle proteins were utilized in the analysis. Experimental results indicated the possibility of developing proteins that support predictable structures that may be changed to answer concerns related to structure and function.

Do main chain hydrogen bonds create dominant electron transfer pathways? An investigation in designed proteins
Article Abstract:
The contributions of the main chain hydrogen bond (H-bond) pathways to the tunneling matrix elements which control electron transfer (ET) rates across an alpha- helical protein matrix are investigated. Findings conclude that deletion of a single H- bond does not lead to a substantial change in the time- averaged secondary structure of the three- helix bundle.

Bidentated hydrogen bond from [O-H...N-N...H-O] to [O(super -)...(super +)H-N-N-H(super +)...(super -)O] structures in solids
Article Abstract:
Very strong bidentated N- H- O hydrogen bonded molecular complexes of [(H-D)... (A-A)... (H-D] in the solid are examined. The bidentated hydrogen bonding interaction in solids was modified between [D(super -)...(super +)H-A-A-H(super +)...(super -)D] and [D-H...A-A...H-D] through regulating Bronsted acid- base conditions.
