Transport of loaded and unloaded microcarriers in a colloidal magnetic shift register
Article Abstract:
Paramagnetic colloidal particles are used for showing the dispersion free digital transport of emulsion droplets and biological cells in an aqueous solution above a uniaxial magnetic garnet film. The noninvasive external magnetic field modulation has enabled the transporting objects that are either directly attached to their carrier particle or advected by the secondary flow generated by the particle assembly.

Marangoni effect reverses coffee-ring deposition
Article Abstract:
The formation of 'coffee-ring' deposits observed at the edge of drying water droplets requires a pinned contact line and the suppression of Marangoni flow. The results indicate that manipulation of the Maragoni flow in drying droplet could allow one in principle to control and redirect evaporation-driven deposition and assembly of colloids and other materials.

Measuring flux distributing for diffusion in the small-numbers limit
Article Abstract:
The distribution of diffusional fluxes is measured by using a microfluidics device filled with a colloidal suspension of a small number of microspheres. A new fluctuation theorem is introduced for the fluxes, which is confirmed quantitatively by the experiments.
