Understanding of the finite size effects on lattice vibrations and electronic transitions of nano alpha-Fe(sub 2)O(sub 3)
Article Abstract:
The finite size effects in an alpha-Fe(sub 2)O(sub 3) nanocrystals is probed by X-ray diffraction, infrared spectroscopy, thermo gravimetric analysis, UV-visible spectrum, and magnetization measurements. The finite size effects that occur in alpha-Fe(sub 2)O(sub 3) nanocrystals at small sizes are found to give red shift in frequencies of perpendicular mode at 540cm(super -1), a blue shift in the electronic transition of double excition process in visible region.

Fabrication of zinc ferrite nanocrystals by sonochemical emulsification and evaporation: Observation of magnetization and its relaxation at low temperature
Article Abstract:
A facile route of an ultrasound-assisted emulsification and evaporation process is successfully demonstrated for the synthesis of nanocrystalline zinc ferrite with narrow size distribution. Utilization of this method results in the formation of finer particles with an average diameter of approximately 4 nm in the case of as-synthesized ferrite and approximately 12 nm for the heat-treated ferrite sample.

Facile synthesis and catalytic property of porous tin dioxide nanostructures
Article Abstract:
Facile synthesis and catalytic property of porous tin dioxide (SnO2) nanostructures is discussed. SnO2 nanostructures consisting of nanoplates are prepared through thermal decomposition of the mixed solution composed of dibutyltin dilaurate and acetic acid and the aggregation of the nanoplates give rise to large macropores with the size of about 100-300 nm.
