Vibrational analysis of polyaniline: a model compound approach
Article Abstract:
Experiments were performed to investigate the vibrational spectra of the primary forms of the conducting polymer polyaniline through a model compounds approach. Raman and infrared spectroscopic analyses were conducted. In addition, the set of force constants for neutral forms of leucomeraldine, emeraldine and pernigraniline were calculated. The diagonal force constants play the most important role compared to other force constants in the valence force field. It is involved in the carbon-carbon and carbon-nitrogen bonding.

[pi]-Dimer of an aniline dimer: an ESR-UV-vis spectroelectrochemical study
Article Abstract:
Studies have shown that the most important intermediate formed during aniline polymerization, the p-aminodiphenylamine, has formed a [pi]-dimer under oxidation at room temperature in acidified organic solvents that are used in electropolymerization. The [pi]-dimer is used for interpreting the ultraviolet visible (UV-vis) spectra of higher oligomers and polyaniline.
