Vibrational spectroscopy of crystalline multilayer ice: Surface modes in the intermolecular-vibration region
Article Abstract:
The electron scattering mechanism from the ice is investigated, and it is found that the surface modes are excited via dipole mechanism in contrast to the bulk modes, which show a characteristics resonance feature. The results shows the surface modes are mainly excited via dipole mechanism, whereas the bulk modes show resonance features characteristics of the short-range mechanism.

Surface adsorption and trapping of Xe on hexagonal ice at 180K by molecular dynamics simulations
Article Abstract:
The mechanism of adsorption and the initial stage of absorption of a Van der Waals particle into crystalline ice are investigated. It is shown that the potential of mean force (PMF) can be used to illustrate the degree of disruption of the crystalline structure of the ice.

Subsurface hydrogen at Pd(100) induced by gas-phase atomic hydrogen
Article Abstract:
Research of the behaviour of the subsurface hydrogen species created by the H(g)-induced absorption process is presented. Evidence for subsurface occupation induced by gas-phase atomic hydrogen, with a saturation amount of 1.06 +/- 0.16 monolayer, is reported.
