Water dissociation associated with NO(sub 2) coadsorption on Mo(110)-(1x6)-O: Effect of coverage and electronic properties of oxygen
Article Abstract:
Water dissociation on an oxygen-covered Mo(110) surface was investigated using temperature-programmed reaction spectroscopy and infrared reflectance absorbance spectroscopy. The oxidation of the surface by NO(sub 2) inhibits water dissociation, and the dissociation of NO(sub 2) which yields M(sub o)=O species drives the formation of water from adsorbed OH and desorption of condensed water from the surface and it is suggested that the oxidic property of O(sub 2) results in a lack of activity for the water dissociation.

Low temperature [H.sub.2]Oand N[O.sub.2] coadsorption on theta-[Al.sub.2][O.sub.3]/NiAl(100) ultrathin films
Article Abstract:
The coadsorption of [H.sub.2]O and N[O.sub.2] molecules on a well-ordered, ultrathin theta-[Al.sub.2][O.sub.3]/NiAl(100) film surface is studied. Coadsorption systems prepared by sequential deposition of N[O.sub.2] and [H.sub.2]O reveal the existence of coverage and temperature- dependent adsorption regimes where [H.sub.2]O molecules and the surface N[O.sub.x] species N[O.sub.2]/[N.sub.2][O.sub.4]/N[O.sub.2][sup.-], N[O.sub.3][sup.-] form segregated and /or mixed domains.

CO dissociation at elevated pressures on supported Pd nanoclusters
Article Abstract:
CO adsorption at elevated pressures and temperatures on Pd nanoclusters deposited on crystalline SiO2 thin films are studied by using in-situ polarization modulation infrared reflection absorption spectroscopy (PM-IRAS). The PM-IRAS data indicate that CO dissociates on the Pd nanoclusters at 185 mbar and at temperature > 600 K.
