Organic reactions mediated by cyclodextrins
Article Abstract:
Organic reactions with the use of cyclodextrins are reviewed. Organic reactions in solid cyclodextrin complexes where a guest is driven into the hydrophobic cyclodextrin cavity involve reactions in gas-solid systems, liquid-solid systems and photochemical reactions in solid cyclodextrin complex systems. Organic reactions with cyclodextrin in solution involve hydrolysis; substitution; reduction; oxidation; addition, transfer, elimination and isomerization; photochemical reactions; and biocatalytic and catalytic reactions.

Biomimetic reactions catalyzed by cyclodextrins and their derivatives
Article Abstract:
Several interesting catalysts can be synthesized using cyclodextrins that perform biomimetic chemistry. Such species can be regarded as artificial enzymes because cyclodextrin is employed to bind a substrate. Reactions involve simple cyclodextrins, cyclodextrins with catalytic or reactive groups, cyclodextrin trimers and tetramers, and noncatalytic biomimesis. The catalysts often have substrate specificity, for molecules that can bind into the cyclodextrin cavity.
