Army battles geographic constraints with large-scale, distance-learning program
Article Abstract:
CBT Systems Ltd has signed a $1-million distance-learning contract with the US Army in late 1998. The contract, which runs through Nov 1999, allows the Army to access all of the company's 900 courses and tap its mentoring services. Among the users of the distance learning courses are soldiers, commanders and civilans who work in areas including systems adminisrtation, information security and network management.

The Computing Technology Industry Association has launched a new network certification test. The new Network+ certification exam is aimed at technicians with 18 to 24 months of experience working with networking technology. It is also vendor-neutral as its sister A+ certification exam and prepares technicians to move into managing networking technology from such providers as Novell, Microsoft, Lotus and Cisco.
