Large ink-jet printers serve color graphic needs

Mutoh Industries Ltd. has come up with the Falcon Graphics RJ-4000 series full-color ink-jet printers intended for the graphic design market. The 720 dpi by 720 dpi printers, which cost 748,000 yen ($5,889) for the A1-compatible 24-inch model and 948,000 yen ($7,464) for the A0-compatible 36-inch model, is useful for producing presentation documents, posters and other promotional products. The RJ-4000, which can be used to print on other kinds of media, is capable of producing a 720 dpi A0 document in about 18 minutes.

Colors scanner offers extremely compact design
Article Abstract:
NEC Corp's ultra-small, speedy, pen-format color scanner, which incorporates an interface section, measures 183 X 13X 13.5mm and weighs only 100g. The device, which features a photodiode with a slit on the glass substrate and a polysilicon thin-film transistor driving circuit, does full-color scanning at 4cm per second. Samples of the scanner will be released by NEC in 1999.
