Learning to Read Cultures: Management
Article Abstract:
The culture or climate of a corporation can be determined by a number of observations. The differences in the physical settings of various levels of employees, contents of the company's reports, statements, press releases, treatment of visitors and clients all reveal much from the outside viewpoint. Within the corporation, observations on who gets ahead and why, length of tenure, the subject matter of memos and meetings provide clues. Symptoms and characteristics that indicate problems are explored.

Dabbling dads
Article Abstract:
A writer who is also a full-time father while his wife works, laments the so-called 'gentleman father' who assumes the parenting role in his spare time with much public fanfare. Other annoying traits of the 'gentleman father' are self-righteousness and the need to write books on fatherhood.
